I'm an open atheist. Of the negative variety, but only because I don't think anyone could have knowledge of a god or gods. I lean toward flat-out disbelief.

My girlfriend's Mormon parents know that I'm an atheist, and they like me. You can imagine what her ex was like.

I'm also a conservative, so I get a lot of flack for it from Christian socialists. But most don't care one way or the other.

There is no reason to be ashamed of our non beliefs or beliefs. Problems arise when some profess that their brand of "God" is their ticket to eternity.
